Delhi poll results trigger a clash between Shiv Sena & BJP in Maharashtra
MUMBAI: The decisive mandate in Delhi assembly polls has triggered a war of words between coalition partners Shiv Sena and BJP in Maharashtra. Just hours after the announcement of results of Delhi assembly elections, Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray targeted the BJP at a specially called press conference in Mumbai and claimed that this was a mandate against Narendra Modi. An angry BJP reacted sharply by demanding that Uddhav's Shiv Sena should quit from the government before targeting PM Modi.

"I want to congratulate the people of Delhi for voting so decisively in the assembly polls. Voters in Delhi have shown that a tsunami is bigger than any wave" Uddhav said referring to his earlier statements where he had denied that a 'Modi wave' was responsible for defeat of the Congress and NCP in Maharashtra polls. "I think there must have been a lot of pressure. Voters and opposition must have been subjected to a lot of pressure by those in power but despite that they have voted decisively. I congratulate Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadami Party for this achievement" Uddhav said. Asked if the Delhi results were a mandate against Narendra Modi, Uddhav said " Yes I think this was a mandate aganist Modi and it was a reaction on unfulfilled promises".

The BJP reacted sharply to Uddhav Thackeray's comments. Speaking with reporters, BJP Mumbai city president Ashish Shelar said "I am really surprised to hear these comments from Shiv Sena president. If he wants to target our top leaders, he must first show the courage to quit from the government in the state and center. He has got a share in power in the state because of us. Shiv Sena should first worry about why they lost local elections in Palghar of Thane district where they fought against us. Uddhav Thackeray should not worry about Delhi. he should first worry about what is happening in Mumbai and rest of Maharashtra".
