Parliament scuffle: Delhi Police register FIR against Rahul Gandhi after BJP leaders injured
The Delhi Police registered an FIR against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi following a scuffle that took place in Parliament on Thursday.

An FIR under section 117 (voluntary causing grievous hurt), 125 (act of endangering life or personal safety of others), 131 (use of criminal force), 351 (criminal intimidation) and 3(5) (common intention) of the BNS was registered at Parliament Street Police station, reported PTI citing a police officer.

Earlier in the day, Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party filed a police complaint against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of physically assaulting two BJP MPs during a clash in Parliament. The saffron party has charged Gandhi with attempt to murder, among other offences, following a scuffle that occurred outside the Makar Dwar entrance to Parliament.

BJP MP Hemang Joshi, along with party colleagues Anurag Thakur and Bansuri Swaraj, went to the Parliament Street Police Station to file the complaint. Moreover, police have removed Section 109 (attempt to murder) from the complaint, but all other sections remain unchanged.

The confrontation erupted between opposition MPs and NDA members over an alleged insult to Dr. BR Ambedkar. During the altercation, former Minister Pratap Chandra Sarangi was injured. The BJP accused Rahul Gandhi of pushing Sarangi, a claim that the Congress leader has denied. Tensions flared when members of the INDIA bloc tried to force their way into Parliament, bypassing a space left open by BJP MPs holding a protest at the Makar Dwar entrance.

Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal confirmed that BJP MP Mukesh Rajput was also injured in the scuffle. Prime Minister Narendra Modi reportedly spoke with Sarangi and Rajput to inquire about their condition after the incident.

Sarangi, a 69-year-old BJP member from Balasore, Odisha, sustained injuries to his left temple during the clash. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey accused Gandhi of pushing the senior leader, further fuelling the controversy surrounding the incident.

This clash marks the latest escalation in ongoing political tensions between the ruling BJP and the opposition, adding fuel to an already charged atmosphere in Parliament.
