Delhi Police receives complaint against Pervesh Verma over slap incident: Sources

New Delhi: Delhi Police has received a complaint from a man allegedly slapped by PWD Minister Parvesh Verma during a road inspection in Tilak Nagar on Sunday, police sources said.

The complaint was received at Vikaspuri Police Station, the officer said, adding that facts are being verified.

The person whom the minister allegedly slapped had earlier identified himself as Saheb Singh, claiming to be an associate of Tilak Nagar AAP MLA Jarnail Singh. He further claimed that he handles the AAP MLA's social media accounts.

The incident unfolded when Verma was inspecting a newly laid road in the area.

AAP MLA Jarnail Singh, who was present at the spot, pulled out portions of the road surface by hand and questioned its quality. Saheb Singh was recording the proceedings when he was allegedly slapped by Verma, a video of which has gone viral on social media.

"I was recording a video when Parvesh Verma snatched my phone and raised his hand at me, which is clearly visible in the video. His security personnel held my hand and grabbed me by the neck, trying to press it, and pulled me away. Three to four BJP workers were also with him. They also misbehaved with me, raised their hands at me and threatened to kill me," Saheb Singh said.

AAP leaders have demanded action against the minister.

Verma, however, alleged that the video was circulated without context and claimed he reacted after AAP workers abused him and his family.
