The unit named Raftar will have two-member teams on specially equipped bikes as first responders during crimes. They have been trained to negotiate congested lanes and reach a crime scene where PCR vans would take longer to reach.

The objective
Delhi Police has 2,028 motorcycles allotted to its 13 districts with one in each police station connected to central PCR.
"It was observed from experience that in crowded areas, these motorcycles could reach the spot faster than the bigger vehicles. Sometimes, due to traffic congestion along the route, PCR vans take longer time to reach the spot. The aim would now be to send a motorbike team first which would be followed by teams from police station and PCR vans. They have been asked to focus on women safety," said police commissioner Amulya Patnaik.
