Delhi Police asks for girl's identity in AAP ad on radio
NEW DELHI: A day after Delhi Police requested radio channels to stop playing a jingle of AAP, the party claims that no official communication has been sent to them. Police said that the radio stations have been officially asked to verify the contents of their advertisements before playing them on air.

AAP had put up an advertisement promising women safety in which a girl named Ritu is heard saying that she was molested by someone after which she reached a police station and cops refused to file an FIR.

A Delhi Police spokesperson said they have requested radio stations to verify the identity of their client and inform them. "We do not know who issued the advertisement and have approached the radio stations since they are the ones who are playing it. We will take actions when we know the identity of the woman and the police station she had gone to register the case," he said.

Senior police officials said that no case has been registered against anyone. Cops said action will be taken if anyone, including the radio stations, is found guilty.

Reacting to the incident, an AAP spokesperson said that Delhi Police had not contacted them. "The police's prestige cannot take precedence over women's safety. We are the content providers to the radio channel so if the advertisement has to be taken off air we need to be informed. So far nothing has been communicated to us," he said.

The party also said that it was not at liberty to reveal the name of the victim as it was against law. "There is a victim who approached us when the cops did not help her. If police approach us, we will share the details of this case with them," said party sources.
