Delhi Metro: Senior citizen commits suicide at GTB Nagar station

The 74-year-old man, identified as Banarsi Das - a resident of Adarsh Nagar area, was taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital, where he was declared dead.

The incident took place around 2:45 pm when a train bound for Huda City Centre was entering Platform 1.
NEW DELHI: A senior citizen allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a moving Delhi Metro train at GTB Nagar on Thursday.

The 74-year-old man, identified as Banarsi Das - a resident of Adarsh Nagar area, was taken to Babu Jagjivan Ram Memorial Hospital, where he was declared dead.

The incident took place around 2:45 pm when a train bound for Huda City Centre was entering Platform 1.


In a suicide note recovered from him, he said to have taken the extreme step because of family issues, said a police official.

The man was allegedly annoyed with extra-marital affair of his wife.

"His body has been handed over to the family after the postmortem examination," he said

The police was probing the incident.
