Delhi High Court blast: Majority of victims receive wounds in lower limbs, pelvic area

A majority of the victims of Wednesday's Delhi High Court blast received injuries in their lower limbs and the pelvic area.

NEW DELHI: A majority of the victims of Wednesday's Delhi High Court blast received injuries in their lower limbs and the pelvic area and many of them are suffering temporary hearing impairment.

Witnessing the steady stream of the injured and critical patients, the government has also instructed all hospitals in the national capital not to refuse admission and treatment to anyone wounded in the blast that left 11 people dead and over 75 injured.

"Most of the patients who were trapped in the blast had injuries on the lower limbs, pelvis and the abdomen. We have asked the hospitals and doctors to attend to every injured," Minister of State for Health Sudip Bandopadhayay said after he visited the injured and took stock of the situation at the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital here.

Nine persons were brought dead and two died during treatment, while two more are in a "very critical" condition in the Intensive Care Unit, he said.

Three patients each were admitted in AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital.

At RML Hospital, 15 people were in surgical emergency and 36 admitted to the Orthopaedics surgery department.

Bandopadhyay said the government had already issued instructions to all Delhi hospitals not to refuse treatment to any person injured in the blast.

He also spoke to some of the injured and asked the doctors and staff at the hospital to go all out in helping the injured.
