Delhi HC stays Ghandy’s narco test

NEW DELHI: The DELHI High Court on Thursday ordered a stay on narco-analysis of arrested CPI(Maoist) leader Kobad Ghandy until December 14.

Hearing an appeal filed by Ghandy against the October 21 order of a lower court asking that he be put through a narco-test, Justice Indermeet Kaur said the test would not be conducted until December 14, the next date of hearing.

Earlier, the trial court had permitted Delhi Police to conduct a narco test on Ghandy, after the investigators contended that they had not been able to collect all information from him on his alleged association with the banned CPI(Maoist). This, they had said, was despite the use of scientific methods of interrogation.

The court passed the order after going through a medical report submitted by the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) stating that Ghandy was medically fit to undergo the narco test.

Ghandy, who allegedly headed the CPI(Maoist)���s publication wing, was nabbed in South Delhi following inputs from intelligence agencies. According to the police, he has been a part of the People���s War Group (PWG) since the 1960s.
