Delhi HC refuses to stop phasing out of blueline buses

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday refused to stay the phasing out of blueline buses from the national capital.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday refused to stay the phasing out of blueline buses from the national capital.

A bench headed by Justice A K Sikri turned down the plea of blueline bus operators association which had pleaded that extension of permits be granted to the blueline buses which are to be taken off the roads from today.

Senior advocate Arvind Nigam, appearing for the association, submitted at the end of today's proceedings that the permit be extended which was turned down by the bench.

The state government contended that the blueline buses must be phased out from the national capital as they are a threat to pedestrians and amount to violation of their fundamental rights.
