Delhi HC Blast: High alert sounded in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar

Police patrolling was intensified and special attention was being paid at railway stations and crowded places.

A high alert was sounded across UP and Bihar in the wake of the blast outside the Delhi High Court today that claimed nine lives and left at least 45 injured.

Uttar Pradesh Police spokesman DP Srivastava said security had been specially tightened at the Allahabad High Court and its Lucknow bench as the Delhi High Court had been targeted.

Police chiefs of all 72 districts have been directed to intensify checking at important public places, including railway stations, bus stands and prominent markets, he said.

"Special directive have been issued to beef up security in religious cities including Varanasi, Ayodhya and Mathura," he added

Director General of Police Abhayanand told reporters in Gaya that all police stations were alerted and security tightened across the state.

Police patrolling was intensified and special attention was being paid at railway stations and crowded places in important towns like Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gaya and Bhagalpur with static deployment of security men, he said.
