Delhi HC as Centre, NCT govt to decide on notaries' plea

The Delhi High Court has asked the Centre and the city government to decide the plea of a group of notaries, evicted from the area near Parliament Street police station.

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has asked the Centre and the city government to decide the plea of a group of notaries, evicted from the area near Parliament Street police station during a drive to de-congest it for a mediation centre, for allotment of an alternative place.

In a recent order, Justice S Muralidhar directed a group of advocates and also some typists to send a joint representation to Delhi government as well as to the Land and Development Office(L&DO) of government of India within a week for an alternative place to carry out the activities.

Meanwhile, the court directed the governments to take a decision on their plea within a month.

The court's direction came on a petition filed by ten lawyers and eight typists for an order to restrain the city government from removing them from there.
