Delhi government increasing burden on common man: VK Malhotra

BJP today sharpened its attacked on the Congress-ruled Delhi government accusing it of increasing the "burden" on the common man.

NEW DELHI: With campaigning for municipal polls reaching a feverish pitch, the BJP today sharpened its attacked on the Congress-ruled Delhi government accusing it of increasing the "burden" on the common man by effecting substantial hike in water and power tariff.

Asking people to vote for the BJP, BJP leader V K Malhotra said peoples' lives would be miserable if the Congress came back to power in the civic body elections.

"Despite spiralling prices of food items, the Congress did not hesitate to increase water and power tariffs. The party does not care at all about the plight of the common man," he said.

The municipal polls for three new civic agencies will be held on April 15.

Accusing the Delhi government of involvement in various scams, he said corruption and anti-people policies of the Congress have resulted in price rise of food items.

"The massive increase in the electricity and water tariff has made lives miserable for the people," Malhotra said.

He also criticised the Delhi government for "failing to put pressure" on Delhi Police for improving the law-and-order situation in the city.
