Delhi government comes out with expenses incurred on CWG projects
Giving details ofn CWG expenditure, Delhi Government said it had spent Rs 14,830 crore on Games-related projects.
Replying to a question in the assembly, PWD Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan said the government spent a total of Rs 3,779 crore on 25 key Games related infrastructure projects while Rs 11,077 crore was spent on 50 city improvement projects which were not directly linked to the mega event.
Admitting delay in implementation of certain projects, he said NDMC was yet to complete renovation of Shivaji stadium yet.
The key CWG projects included renovation of Thyagraj stadium, Chhatrasaal stadium, Talkotara indoor stadium, purchase of 574 low floor air-conditioned buses, street scapping works, water treatment plant at Games village, construction of bus parking facility near Rajghat and renovation of Shivaji stadium.
Chauhan, although listed purchase of Tetra Communication system as part of key CWG projects, but did not mention the cost component.
The other key CWG projects mentioned by Chauhan included construction of UP Link Road, purchase of equipment for polyclinic set up at Games Village, greening of Games venues, construction of Ring Road Bypass, construction of Barapullah Nallah elevated road and setting up of bus parking facility covering Sunheri Nalla and Barapullah Nallah.
Chauhan said 50 projects, were taken up by the government to improve infrastructure ahead of the Games.
As probe into alleged Games mess gained momentum immediately after the events in October, Delhi Government had delinked 50 projects from CWG projects and had identified them as "city improvement projects".
The Government had even written to CAG not to examine the "city improvement projects" but the auditor had turned down the request.
Chauhan said various agencies including CAG, CVC and Shunglu Committee had probed alleged irregularities relating to delays, cost, quality and implementation of various projects.
He said a total of Rs 549 crore was spent on Barapullah Nallah elevated road while Rs 654 crore was spent on Ring Road bypass project.
