Delhi gang rape: Netizens welcome verdict, demand public execution of convicts
Public anger was so intense among netizens that they demanded the four should be hanged in public so that everyone would get a lesson.
"Justice Done ! Thank u judiciary ! You keep the faith on Rule of Law alive!" a post on social networking site Facebook said.
On microbogging site Twitter, Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj also welcomed the judgement, saying it will serve as a deterrent for persons committing such crimes.
"I welcome the judgement in Delhi gangrape case, this will serve as deterrent for such offences," Swaraj tweeted.
A large number of netizens were in favour of immediate hanging of the convicts while some of them opined that hanging was much less then what the gangrape victim went through.
"The rapists should die 1,000 times more painful death than what they gave her. Then it will be true justice to her," a post said.
Public anger was so intense among netizens that they demanded the four should be hanged in public so that everyone would get a lesson. Many said it was good that the court sentenced them to death.
"But wondering why the court can't sentence them to be brutalised, tortured and humiliated in the same manner. Why do these rapists need gallows, why can't they be killed in the same manner using an iron rod and their intestine and other vital organs be pulled out.
"Why should they not be subjected to the same pain and agony and suffering....Why just death for the rapists????" questioned a Facebook user.
