Delhi elections: AAP rules out seeking support; ready to sit in opposition
NEW DELHI: Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP) on Monday ruled out the possibility of seeking support to form the government in Delhi, stating that it will sit in the Opposition.

"We won't take support from anyone. We are ready for a re-election," said AAP's Manish Sisodia.

Yogendra Yadav of AAP said, " BJP has more number of seats, it is their moral right and responsibility to form government." "It is very odd that the party with majority is asking runner up party to form a government," he added.

"We had made it clear from the beginning we will not support nor will we seek support from any party. If the Lt. Governor invites us (to form Govt), we will say, Sir we have 28 seats, to our mind 28 do not add upto 36," he said.

Yadav went on to say, "It is unfair that we didn't technically get the number of seats to form a government. Some thing came between us & the people. So be it." "We have not been voted by people to scramble to form a government. That is not how we do politics. We will lose trust of our voters," he reiterated.

The hung verdict in Delhi Assembly polls has raised intriguing questions about government formation in the national capital.

With 31 seats, BJP emerged as the single largest party but is still short of the majority mark of 36 in the 70-member Assembly. The second largest party is the fledgling Aam Admi Party with 28 followed by Congress with 8 seats. One seat each has gone to an Independent, JD(U) and Akali Dal, which is an ally of BJP.

The options for BJP are to either stake claim to form the government or wait for Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to invite its leader Harsh Vardhan to do so as leader of the single largest party.
