In Bedi's absence, her niece, Chandni, led the show accompanied by East Delhi MP Maheish Girri and other prominent BJP members. Bedi and Union science and technology minister Harsh Vardhan, who has represented the constituency for nearly two decades, joined the roadshow at 3.45pm.
BJP had planned only one major event for the day, a public meeting by party chief Amit Shah in Madanpur Khadar, south Delhi. Shah congratulated the Narendra Modi-led Centre for controlling prices and predicted an easy win for BJP regardless of what opinion polls say.
In other constituencies also, BJP supporters were out on the streets as candidates attempted to connect with voters. In Kalkaji, BJP MP from Chandigarh, Kirron Kher, participated in a roadshow for the BJP-SAD candidate, Harmeet Singh Kalka. Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay campaigned for candidates in RK Puram, Greater Kailash and Malviya Nagar. Former cricketer and senior BJP member Navjot Singh Sidhu, and North East Delhi MP Manoj Tiwari campaigned for BJP's candidate from Matiala, Rajesh Gehlot. In Vishwas Nagar, BJP workers lined up on footpaths with banners of their candidate O P Sharma.
