Delhi elections 2015: AAP accuses Delhi Police of acting under BJP pressure
NEW DELHI: On the eve of polls, the Aam Aadmi Party today accused the Delhi Police of acting under pressure from BJP to file fictitious cases against party candidates.

The party's charge comes in the backdrop of police summoning its Uttam Nagar nominee in connection with the recovery of several cartons of liquor.

"There is pressure on officers. They will make all allegations. This is their politics....Against Balyan there are all false allegations," AAP Convenor Arvind Kejriwal told reporters.

Police called AAP's Uttam Nagar candidate Naresh Balyan in connection with recovery of large number of liquor bottles a few days back.

Party leader Ashutosh claimed, "I called up the Police Commissioner last night to tell him that police is trying to pressurise and traumatize our candidates under the influence of BJP. He did not pick my phone, will try to meet during the day to request him to not get pressurised."

"There is no case against AAP leader Naresh Balyan, no FIR has been registered and he has been issued a notice at midnight. This shows that there is a design, a conspiracy to malign AAP," he said.

The AAP leader also said in a series of tweets early morning that they have information that police officials are "under pressure" to act against their party and they will be meeting the Election Commission officials today to apprise him about the situation.

"Last night I had a word with top police officials. They are under pressure to make fictitious cases Ag AAP candidates/harass/traumatise them," Ashutosh alleged in a tweet.

Police Commissioner B S Bassi denied the allegations saying, "police have never been under any kind of pressure".

"There are only few cases and except the Naresh Balyan one others are minor cases of disputes or defacement. When around 457 cartons of liquor were recovered from Balyan, we had evidence and hence he was summoned for further investigation," he said.

"We do not want to harass candidates of any particular party but we also expect that law must take its course. We assure police has never been under any kind of pressure, neither it will be," added Bassi.
