Delhi CM suggests video conferencing facility for schools
Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday suggested introduction of video conferencing to impart "quality" education in schools across the city.
"Application of video conferencing for teaching would help in imparting best quality knowledge by well-qualified teachers in one go to large number of students in different schools," she said addressing a Teachers' Day function.
The chief minister conferred awards to 73 outstanding teachers at the function, including 46 teachers from Delhi Government schools, 12 from MCD schools, two from NDMC schools and 13 sports teachers.
Addressing the gathering, Dikshit said a health scheme for government school teachers has been approved and would be implemented very soon.
Dikshit also announced that vacant posts of teachers in schools across the city would be filled soon.
Noting the importance of encouraging teachers as they were the "backbone of society", Dikshit said her government was keen to provide opportunity of promotion to teachers and hence outdated recruitment rules would soon be updated.
"This sort of training is essential for students in 10th, 11th and 12th classes to make them skilled so that they could start their own profession in case they do not want to pursue higher education," she said.
Dikshit also stressed the need of neighbourhood teachers. "It helps in smooth imparting of education as neighbourhood teachers can reach their schools in shortest possible time."
