NEW DELHI: Stirring up a controversy within days of assuming office, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia have demanded bigger bungalows than those allotted to them.

According to Times Now, Kejriwal and Sisodia have refused to shift into the bungalows designated to them. Kejriwal has asked for combined residence and office in Lutyens Delhi.

Defending his party chief, Somnath Bharti said, "I would request media to mature now. Honourable Chief Minister surely needs a residence which would facilitate his interaction with the aam aadmi and janta who have given him the mandate." "They (people) need an environment in which they can come and tell their problems. This is for the people," Bharti said.

Reacting to the news, BJP slammed AAP, asking it to practise what it preaches. "AAP is facing the reality of public life," RP Singh of BJP said.

Arvind Kejriwal was on February 14 sworn-in as Delhi Chief Minister along with six other ministers, and, in a first, decided not to keep any portfolio with himself.

Kejriwal took oath of office in the presence of over a lakh people who packed the Ramlila Maidan, venue of Anna Hazare's anti-corruption campaign that brought the former revenue service officer to political forefront.

Manish Sisodia, who has been appointed as deputy Chief Minister, and five other ministers Asim Ahmed Khan, Sandeep Kumar, Satyendar Jain, Gopal Rai and Jitender Singh Tomar were also administered oath of office and secrecy by Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung.

The AAP won 67 of the 70 seats in Delhi decimating Congress and leaving only three seats for the BJP.
