Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal to meet Khap leaders along with farmers on Sunday

After RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, it is AAP leader and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal who has entered into the West UP political arena an year before assembly elections.

Kejriwal has already announced to hold a Kisan maha panchayat on February 28 at Meerut in West UP.

Now sources tell ET that AAP has invited a number of Khap Pradhans for a meeting with Kejriwal on Sunday at Delhi Vidhan Sabha. Along with Khap leaders some farmer leaders too will join in the meeting.


The meeting holds significance in the wake of the upcoming maha panchayat by Kejriwal.

Early this week, BJP West UP leaders had also decided to reach out to Khap pradhans and convince them over the three farm laws.

Kejriwal has now invited them for a meeting to talk on the three farm laws and the political situation emerging out of it.

Senior AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has been touring West UP for the past few days for preparations related to Kisan maha panchayat.

“Around 20 leaders would participate in the meeting with Delhi CM on Sunday,” Sanjay Singh told ET. “The main issue of discussion would be the three farm laws.”

Singh refused to divulge any names who would attend the meeting tomorrow.

AAP has increased its political activities in UP a year before state assembly elections. Earlier Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia had visited Lucknow and another AAP leader Somnath Bharti had also visited UP.

Before Kejriwal, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi has done three maha panchayats in West UP till Saturday. On Saturday Priyanka Gandhi did amaha panchayat at Muzaffarnagar. On February 23, she will do the fourth maha panchayat at Mathura.

Similarly, RLD leader Jayant Chaudhary has been doing regular maha panchayats to reach out to farmers.
