The newly formed Delhi Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, on Thursday approved the implementation of Ayushman Bharat Yojana, during its first meeting.

The BJP had, in its Delhi election manifesto, promised the implementation of the scheme after forming the state government.

Along with this, the party had vowed to provide additional assistance of Rs 5 lakh from the Delhi government, meaning the residents will get a total health cover of Rs 10 lakh under the said scheme.

Dream of a 'Viksit Delhi'

Rekha Gupta took office as the new Chief Minister of Delhi on Thursday, making it clear that her government would leave no room for delays in achieving the "Viksit Delhi" mission.

The 50-year-old, who became the ninth chief minister of Delhi, expressed her commitment to fulfilling all the promises made by the BJP during the election campaign.

Gupta, along with her ministers and key BJP leaders including state president Virendra Sachdeva and party in-charge Baijayant Panda, took charge at the Delhi Secretariat, shortly after a grand swearing-in ceremony at Ramlila Maidan.

"Not a single day will be wasted in realising our mission of a 'Viksit Delhi' (developed Delhi). We will fulfil all the commitments made to the people of Delhi," she affirmed to reporters after assuming office.

Earlier, Gupta, a first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh, was sworn in by Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, alongside her newly appointed Council of Ministers.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, top BJP leaders such as Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Rajnath Singh, and several chief ministers and deputy chief ministers of NDA-ruled states.

Notably, leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Atishi, were absent from the event.
