Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay involved in firms providing meters to discoms: AAP

NEW DELHI: AAP levelled charges against Delhi BJP Chief Satish Upadhyay, alleging that his companies had supplied electric meters to Anil Ambani-group controlled power utility BSES and that as a quid pro quo the saffron party was soft on discoms indulging in corruption.

Upadhyay has denied these charges and announced that he will file a criminal defamation case against AAP for making “false and fabricated” allegations against him. At a press conference, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said companies in which Upadhyay and Delhi BJP V-P Ashish Sood were stakeholders had supplied electric meters to BSES.

He asked BJP to come clean on the business relations between these companies and BSES. “Why is BJP silent on the alleged corruption and fudging of accounts by discoms? Why is BJP silent on the issue of audit of discoms and the privatisation scam of DVB?” he asked.

He sought to know from Upadhyay if major payments from Reliance group companies and BSES were made to NCNL Transcomedia and NCNL Power and said he should explain why transactions by these firms were untraceable.

Upadhyay said: “The two companies that Kejriwal has named do not exist. I never formed these companies. I will not allow AAP to level such false and fabricated charges and then run away. I have given them 24 hours to apologise, else, I will file a criminal defamation case against them.”
