Samples of over 226 people, who were part of the gathering has been, as of now, were sent for testing, an official said.
New Delhi: Over 200 persons, who are believed to have attended a gathering of Tableeghi Jamaat preachers in New Delhi earlier this month, are being tested for Covid-19.

Additionally, over 12 houses with members who came in touch with a group of preachers from Malaysia and Indonesia have been quarantined in the area. Residents of Nizammuddin Basti said the group from Tableeghi Jamat had come and stayed in the mosque and had visited many houses in the basti.

The Jamat, an apolitical organisation, believes in the message of ‘Deen ki Mehnat’ which means strengthening the Islamic way of life. Delhi government officials said SDMs are visiting the area every day, and talking to residents to figure out the extent of the gathering. Samples of over 226 people, who were part of the gathering has been, as of now, were sent for testing, an official said.
