Delhi: 35 more services at your doorstep by month-end
The AAP government has decided to expand the ambit of its doorstep delivery of services scheme by adding 35 facilities by the end of this month.

All these will be possible as the AAP government has decided to expand the ambit of its doorstep delivery of services scheme by adding 35 facilities by the end of this month.
A tentative list of the new facilities has been drawn after extensive deliberations with the departments concerned, said a senior government official. The new departments include Delhi Transport Corporation, Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation, drugs control, higher education, Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation, and labour, social welfare, and food and supplies departments.
Soon, Delhiites will also be able to pay motor vehicle tax and get a new class of vehicle added to their driving licence, register for bed and breakfast scheme, book religious tour packages, renew a pharmacy licence or get a new one, and seek income-linked financial assistance from the higher education department under the scheme.
An official said an applicant would have to call on helpline number 1076 and the government would send a facilitator (mobile sahayak) at the pre-decided time and location to help him apply for the service. The official, however, added that some of the services might be dropped from the list if the facilitators face any technical issue in filling up the form during the ongoing training.
The doorstep scheme was launched this September to reduce corruption and help people apply for essential documents and facilities without making several rounds of government offices. An official claimed that the facility had proved to be successful. A large number of people call up the helpline every day to apply for various services, including driving licence, caste, income and domicile certificates, and new water and sewer connections, he added. The call centre receives close to 2,000 calls every day and 1,000 appointments are usually booked on a daily basis, a source said.
“Since the launch of the service, we have increased the number of mobile sahayaks and phone lines at the call centre. After confirming that an applicant has all relevant documents mandatory to apply for a particular service, the appointment is confirmed and a mobile sahayak visits the home or office of the person and helps in filling up the form,” the official said.
