Delegation to meet President Pratibha Patil over attacks on journalists

MUMBAI: A delegation of journalists from Maharashtra would meet President Pratibha Patil on February 22 to apprise her about growing attacks on their fraternity.

City-based Patrakar Halla Virodhi Kriti Samiti would seek Patil's intervention in enacting a legislation regarding the issue.

"A delegation would meet the president at Rashtrapati Bhavan and would request her to ensure bringing out a legislation to prevent attacks on journalists," Samiti president S M Deshmukh said.

There have been 212 attacks on journalists in Maharashtra alone in two and a half year, he said.
