Delegation meets Sarbananda Sonowal over shutting down of Assamese news bulletin

A delegation of AIR Dibrugarh and DD Dibrugarh officials met Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on shutting down of the AIR Daily Assamese News Bulletin from Dibrugarh

Sonowal spoke to Secretary I&B ministry and urged him to take necessary action regarding the matters discussed in the meeting.

He met a delegation of AIR Dibrugarh and DD Dibrugarh officials at his residence. The Union Minister interacted with the delegates and heard their various issues including the matter of shutting down of the AIR Daily Assamese News Bulletin from Dibrugarh.


The Union Minister also spoke to Secretary I&B over phone and urged him to take necessary action regarding the matters discussed in the meeting.

Assamese news bulletin, which was aired from AIR’s Dibrugarh station at 6pm, was discontinued by Prasar Bharati from October 24. All Assam Students’ Union and the Bharatiya Gana Natya Sangha staged a protest in Dibrugarh over the discontinuation of the Assamese news bulletin.
