PANAJI: Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, who was elected unopposed to Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh today after assuming the new assignment in Union government, is set to resign as MLA from his home state Goa in next two days.

"I might resign tomorrow or day after," the former chief minister said before participating in the BJP legislators' meet at Porvorim.

This would be the last meeting of Parrikar as an MLA who has represented Panaji Assembly constituency four times.

He had told party workers last evening that the BJP nominee to represent Panaji seat would be decided soon.

"I will personally go around the constituency during by-election and ask for votes," Parrikar had said, adding that the BJP candidate will be acceptable to all sections.
