RANCHI: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today hoisted the largest Tricolour in the country atop the tallest pole at Pahari Mandir in Ranchi.

"I feel elated to unfurl the country's tallest, biggest and most beautiful Tricolour on the occasion of 119th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose," Parrikar said here.

The flag is 66 ft in height, 99 ft in width and it is hoisted on a 293 ft tall pole.

Till yesterday, the country's largest and tallest Tricolour, 96 ft X 64 ft in dimension, was flying on a 250 ft high pole in Faridabad. It was hoisted last year.

Addressing a group of schoolchildren at the Birsa Munda Stadium after unfurling the flag at Pahari Mandir, about a km away, Parrikar thanked Jharkhand and its Chief Minister Raghubar Das for giving him the splendid opportunity.

Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu, the chief minister, his cabinet colleagues and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
