Defamation scare: Kejriwal on apology spree, now says sorry to Gadkari
After apologising to former Punjab minister Majithia, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today apologised Nitin Gadkari for his 'unverified allegations' against the Union minister. Kejriwal has also reportedly sought apology from Congress leader Kapil Sibal and is likely to further tender apology to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

In an apology letter to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Delhi chief minister expressed regret for unverified allegations made against Gadkari.

"I made certain statements, without regard to its verifiability, which seem to have hurt you and therefore you have filed a defamation case against me. I have nothing personal against you. I regret the same," the letter written on March 16 said.

Arvind Kejriwal and Union minister Nitin Gadkari today filed a joint application for seeking of withdrawn of the defamation case in Delhi's Patiala House Court.

The application was moved before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal after Kejriwal's counsel submitted the letter in which the AAP leader has expressed regret for making statements without regard to their verifiability.

In 2014, Gadkari moved the court against Kejriwal for allegedly defaming him by including his name in the Aam Aadmi Party's list of "India's most corrupt".

Kejriwal is also facing a criminal defamation case against Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Jaitley had filed a defamation case after Kejriwal, who accused Jaitley of doing corruption during his tenure as the president of Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA). The finance minister had sought Rs 10 crore in compensation for the alleged defamatory allegations made by Kejriwal.

Recently, Kejriwal also issued an apology to Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia for repeatedly targeting him over the drug problem in Punjab.

Nearly 20 defamation cases have been filed against Kejriwal in various courts by several distinguished politicians.
