Decision to exempt land belonging to a trust run by the Gandhi family from acquisition to be reviewed: HC
They have petitioned the court to protest what they call the pick-and-choose policy of the Haryana government. leaving out land belonging to the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust from the acquisition process.

The statement of Haryana advocate general Hawa Singh Hooda in the HC appeared to be part of an exercise to placate the landholders including eminent artist Anjolie Ela Menon. They have petitioned the court to protest what they call the pick-and-choose policy of the Haryana government. leaving out land belonging to the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust from the acquisition process.
The gambit succeeded partly. Although 55 of the 65 petitioners responded to Haryana government's placatory gesture by withdrawing their petitions, a small group including Menon has decided to fight it out in court. Their petitions will be heard on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the issue has taken a political twist. Reacting to the alleged favour to the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust which has Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi as members, BJP leader Arun Jaitley said Congress, which protested against forcible acquisition of land by UP government in Greater Noida, was guilty of the same conduct in Haryana. "What is true for Bhatta- Parsaul should be true for Ullahawas," he said.
