Decision on extending curfew on May 23, says Yediyurappa
The government is caught between balancing health and the economy since the state’s finances have come under severe stress because of the prolonged lockdown.

“We still have the time. I will hold a meeting with my ministers and experts on May 23 and decide if we should continue the restrictions for a few more days,” chief minister BS Yediyurappa told reporters on Wednesday.
Most of Yediyurappa’s cabinet colleagues have hinted at extending the lockdown by a week, considering that coronavirus cases are on the decline in Bengaluru. However, despite the lockdown, there has been a surge in cases in all other districts, and experts have suggested that districts will continue to see the rise in cases for a few more days before the decline begins. The government is caught between balancing health and the economy since the state’s finances have come under severe stress because of the prolonged lockdown.
The state had enforced “janata curfew” from April 27 and went for a complete lockdown on May 10 as Covid-related deaths increased.
