Debabrata Saikia the new legislature party leader of Congress in Assam

GUWAHATI: What is being seen as a move to ease out former chief minister, Tarun Gogoi, congress leadership has chosen Debabrata Saikia as the new legislature party leader.

Following Congress party’s humiliating defeat in Assam polls, Tarun Gogoi has shown keenness to lead the party in legislature. Senior congress leader CP Joshi and Ambika Soni visited Guwahati on Friday to talked to 26 congress MLAs.

Congress MLAs in Assam has authorized the party high command to decide as who will lead the party MLAs in Assam assembly, where it will major opposition party.

Debabrata Saikia is son of former Assam chief minister, Hiteswar Saikia and MLA from Nazira constituency.
