Death of accused in CMO murder case: Brother demands CBI probe

The brother of deputy Chief Medical Officer Y S Sachan, who allegedly committed suicide inside jail, has demanded a CBI probe into his death.

LUCKNOW: The brother of deputy Chief Medical Officer Y S Sachan, who allegedly committed suicide inside jail, has demanded a CBI probe into his death.

"I want a CBI probe into the murder of my brother...He has been murdered", R K Sachan, elder brother of the Deputy CMO, told reporters.

"Have you ever heard of anyone hanging from his belt...My brother was innocent", he said.

The main accused in the murder of Chief Medical Officer (Family Welfare) B P Singh, Dr Sachan was found dead under mysterious circumstances inside the Lucknow district jail hospital last night after which the government ordered a judicial probe into the incident.

"According to jail superintendent B S Mukund and doctor V P Tripathi, Sachan was found dead in the toilet of the hospital," Inspector General of (Jail) V K Gupta had said.

"Prima facie, it seems to be a case of suicide and post mortem is being conducted," Gupta said.

Sachan was named in CMO murder case as the main accused by police following the arrest of three persons by the STF on June 17.

Singh was shot dead by unidentified persons on the morning of April 2 when he had gone out for a walk.

Sachan's name was also linked to the murder of another CMO (Family Welfare) Vinod Kumar Arya who was shot dead in October last year.

The postmortem of Sachan is being conducted to ascertain the exact cause of death.
