DDA to allot CWG flats to government departments
DDA would allot a number of Commonwealth Games flats to central and state government departments with the approval of the Urban Development Ministry, the government said.
Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Urban Development Saugata Roy said the DDA had informed that requests for allotment of these flats had been received from Central and State governments in addition to Public Sector Undertakings.
Of the 1168 flats constructed at the Commonwealth Games village, 711 belong to the DDA and the rest to private builders, Roy said.
"A decision has been taken to dispose of these flats (DDA share) to central and state government departments at the market rates. Around 100 flats of all categories would be put to auction/sealed bidding process to ascertain the ongoing market rates of these flats," Roy said.
In reply to another question Roy said the Urban Development ministry had cancelled the allotment of accommodation units to Kendriya Bhandar in compliance with the decision of the Cabinet Committee on Accommodation in this regard.
Roy said a sum of Rs 5.35 crore was owed by the Kendriya Bhandar while the ministry had earlier managed to recover a sum of over Rs Rs 2.44 crore from it.
