DDA may regularise excess area built in CWG village flats

Govt said DDA was considering "regularising" the excess area constructed in CWG village apartments after builder pays the amount for excess construction.

NEW DELHI: The government said Delhi Development Authority was considering "regularising" the excess area constructed in the Commonwealth Games village apartments after the builder pays the amount for the excess construction.

"A proposal has been received from DDA to regularise the excess area built by the Project Developer after he pays market price for such excess area built by him. The proposal of DDA is under active consideration of the government," Union Minister of State for Urban Development Saugata Roy told Lok Sabha in response to a query.

DDA has informed since the completion certificate to the CWG village flats is yet to be issued, the handing over of the flats to buyers could not be started, he said.

"DDA has also informed that these flats have been constructed on public-private participation mode by a private developer who has constructed in excess of the sanctioned building plans resulting in delay of issuance of completion certificate," Roy said.

The premium flats constructed at the Games Village are mired in controversy due to excess floor area ratio and yet to get a completion certificate from the Urban Development Ministry.

According to a draft note prepared by Urban Development Ministry, the total area sanctioned was 2,05,140 sq metre for the developers but it was found the actual area built was 2,28,238.35 sq metre.
