After days of deliberations, BJP elected Rekha Gupta as the next Chief Minister of Delhi. With details emerging, the official website of the BJP leader shows that she has also been responsible for introduction of 'Common Admission Form' for the first time because of which lakhs of students are getting benefit.

Having studied at Delhi University's Daulat Ram College, she became the President of the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) in 1996-97 and actively raised student issues. As a councillor from North Pitampura in 2007, she worked on developing basic facilities in the area, such as libraries and parks.

Here are key details of her work as DUSU President



  • She started the “Common Admission Form” for the first time because of which lakhs of students are getting benefit.
  • She initiated and formed the committee against Sexual Harassment and compact campus committee to stop the harassment and eve teasing of girl students and also to check the crimes and misshapenness in campus.
  • She initiated and led the moment to highlight the scarcity of “U-special buses” for students and brought all the five major students unions namely, DUSU, JNU (Student Union), Jamiamillia Islamia Students Union, Lal Bahadur Shastri Vidya Peeth Student Union and TIBIA Medical College Student Union on one platform.
  • She facilitated and encouraged the regular classes to be taken by the lecturers instead of private tuition

She has also pursued an LLB and is the founder of the AAS, a NGO. She lost the mayoral election to AAP's Shelly Oberoi in 2023.

Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena administered the oath of office to Rekha Gupta and her council of ministers in the ceremony.

Six other ministers, including Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Pankaj Kumar Singh, also took the oath.
