NEW DELHI: Information and Broadcasting minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi is under close observation as his condition continues to be critical for the second consecutive day on Tuesday.

"Dasmunsi's condition continues to be serious, but stable," Medical Superintendent of AIIMS Dr D K Sharma said.

"He is under close observation in Coronary Care Unit (CCU)," AIIMS Spokesperson Y K Gupta said.

A multi-discipline team of doctors led by HoD of cardiology department Dr V K Behl was treating him.

"His blood pressure, pulse rate and respiration have been recovered. But he is still on ventilator," Dr Behl said.

62-year-old Dasmunsi was admitted to AIIMS yesterday with complete left ventricular failure of the heart.

Explaining his condition, Behl said "The function of the left ventrical is to pump blood efficiently to the body. This was not happening at the time of his admission. He (Dasmunsi) was completely breathless and had lung congestion."

Dasmunsi was treated for acute coronary syndrome in a private hospital in Kolkata in July and he had undergone a primary angioplasty.
