Dasmunshi undergoes angioplasty

Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi has undergone angioplasty at a city hospital where his condition is now stated to be stable.

KOLKATA: Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi has undergone angioplasty at a city hospital where his condition is now stated to be stable.

Authorities at Apollo Gleneagles Hospital today said Dasmunshi was first diagnosed to be suffering from acute coronary syndrome. A subsequent angiogram revealed coronary artery disease.

The arterial obstruction was removed via surgery late last night and the Minister is now on oral diet.

The 62-year-old Minister is in the ICCU under observation of cardiologists Rabin Chakraborty and Ramesh Seshadry and house physician Tirthankar Chowdhury.

He was flown into the city by a special BSF airplane from Purnea last night after he complained of chest pain during a journey in Malda district. He was admitted to the hospital late last night, sources said.
