Dasmunshi being flown to Kolkata for treatment

Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi, who was taken ill while travelling to his constituency Raigunj is being flown to Kolkata instead of New Delhi for treatment, airport sources said on Sunday.

KOLKATA: Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi, who was taken ill while travelling to his constituency Raigunj in north Dinajpur district, is being flown to Kolkata instead of New Delhi for treatment, airport sources said on Sunday.

Dasmunshi was taken to Purnia in Bihar en route to New Delhi, but after considering his condition it was decided to bring him to the city for urgent treatment.

"He was taken to Purnia in Bihar by an Army helicopter. Now the helicopter will take off from Purnia at 8.15 pm and will take 45 minutes to reach Kolkata," sources said.

Sources close to Dasmunshi said arrangements were being made to get him admitted to Apollo Gleneagals hospital in Kolkata.

The 62-year-old minister was taken ill while travelling to Raigunj, his constituency, from Malda. He was admitted to Raiganj district hospital.

He complained of chest pain and uneasiness and was administered medicines, hosital sources said.
