Daman to be Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu UT's headquarter

NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet has approved making Daman as the headquarter of Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu regions for taxation purposes, which will lead to common taxation authorities for goods and services tax (GST), value added tax (VAT) and state excise for all three regions.

The government amended various tax acts covering the three tax systems, which will lead to saving for the exchequer and ensuring uniformity, stability and consistency in day to day functioning of taxation authorities.

"It will also help to avoid any legal complications in the levy and collection of GST Tax, VAT, State Excise, including recovery of arrears Moreover, the said amendments not only bring uniformity in taxation laws but also strengthen the system of laws," the government added.
