Damaging Sethu will leave a scar: Parasaran

Govt should avoid damage to Ram Sethu as it might leave a scar on the minds of people like after the demolition of the Babri Masjid.

NEW DELHI: The government should avoid damage to Ram Sethu as it might leave a scar on the minds of people like after the demolition of the Babri Masjid, senior advocate K Parasaran pleaded before the Supreme Court on Tuesday.

Appearing for Rama Gopalan, a leader of a Hindu sect, Mr Parasaran said: Demolition of the Babri Masjid has left a deep scar. The wound has healed but the scar is there. Scar of this nature must be avoided.

Is there any compelling need to cause a wound in the minds of so many Hindus to leave a permanent scar? A wrong deed of authority will leave a deep wound, submitted Parasaran before a SC bench. To interfere or destroy even a part of the Ram Sethu would be an interference with the right of liberty of belief, faith and worship, he said.
