CWG scam: Indo-Swiss firm executive remanded in CBI custody
CBI said that police custody of Wadhwa was required for his further custodial interrogation to unearth the entire conspiracy regarding the bribe of OC officials.
Special CBI Judge O P Saini remanded Wadhwa in CBI custody acceding to the agency's plea that he needed to be subjected to custodial interrogation for further probe into the case after finding some "incriminating material" against him.
"I find that there is incriminating material on record to the effect that two instalments of bribe were paid by accused Sandeep Wadhwa to the officials of OC," the court said.
"In view of the incriminating material on record, I am satisfied that further custodial interrogation of the accused is required," the court added.
The court also allowed the family mambers of Wadhwa to meet him for half an hour daily.
Wadhwa, the MD of Comfort Net, which is a part of the Switzerland-based Nussli India consortium, was arrested yesterday by the CBI in connection with alleged irregularities in the award of contracts for overlays for over Rs 600 crore.
CBI in its remand application said that police custody of Wadhwa was required for his further custodial interrogation to unearth the entire conspiracy regarding the bribe of OC officials.
"Police remand of the accused is required for his custodial interrogation to unearth the entire conspiracy regarding the bribing of OC officials as well as for the purposes of identification of documents and other co-accused," CBI submitted.
CBI also said that Wadhwa's custodial interrogation is required for finding out the trail of the bribe amount.
