CWG scam: Court extends JC of pvt firm director till May 7
A Delhi court extended by four days the judicial custody of a private firm director who was arrested on the charge of bribing CWG OC officials.
Special Judge Sanjeev Jain extended the judicial custody of Comfort Net Traders India Pvt Ltd's Director Sandeep Wadhwa till May 7 only as the mandatory 60-day period to file the chargesheet against him would expire on the same day.
Wadhwa was arrested by CBI on March 7 and the agency had alleged that he had paid huge amount of bribe to various CWG OC officials on behalf of Nussli (Switzerland) Limited for bagging contracts at exorbitant rates.
During the hearing, advocate M P Singh, appearing for Wadhwa, opposed the extension of judicial custody saying the investigating officer (IO) of the case was not present in the court and neither the case diary was put up before the court.
"Without the case diary, the court cannot satisfy itself about the progress in the investigation and the grounds for further extension of the judicial custody," he said.
