CWG scam: CBI raid at 21 places and files case against 10 DDA officials

NEW DELHI: The CBI on Wednesday registered a new case, the 16th so far. the first by the newly-formed Special Investigation Team ( SIT) set up to study the CAG report - on the irregularities committed in organising various aspects of the Commonwealth Games, naming 10 officials of the DDA and a Mumbai-based private firm for inflating the cost of the project of constructing indoor games for squash and badminton at the Siri Fort Sports Complex.

Among those named by the investigating agency are a retired chief engineer of the DDA and a serving executive engineer, alongwith B E Bilimoria Co Ltd, the Mumbai-based firm that had bagged the contract for 154 crore. Cases of criminal conspiracy, cheating and abuse of official position have been registered against the accused.

While registering the case, the CBI also conducted raids at 21 locations, mainly in and around the Capital.
