CBI sources said Kalmadi is next in line as both Bhanot and Verma have said all decisions on contracts were taken by the executive board keeping the chairman in the loop.

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday took the final step before the anticipated arrest of Organizing Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi, arresting his closest aides and senior OC members – ousted secretary-general Lalit Bhanot and director-general V K Verma – for scams related to the Commonwealth Games.

Apart from Kalmadi, the CBI has arrested the entire OC brass which decided on awarding contracts, release of payments and signed important files. T S Darbari, Sanjay Mohindroo and M Jeychandran were arrested in November last year while K Udai Kumar Reddy was held on Tuesday.
