Curfew to continue for sometime in Shillong: Deputy Commissioner PS Dkhar

Indefinite curfew was clamped in parts of Shillong in Meghalaya after violence broke out between police and angry mob. The district administration has relaxed curfew in volatile areas for 11 hours on Sunday.
Capital city Shillong which was witnessing unrest is limping back to normalcy. Violence broke out after two groups of people in the city's Punjabi Lane area clashed which were triggered after a bus driver was allegedly beaten up by a group of residents.
The agitators later started demanding eviction of Punjabi people settled in the Punjabi Lane locality. Curfew was clamped and additional security forces were rushed in to bring situation under control.
Dkhar told ET, “While restriction on internet will continue. Curfew will on till we are satisfied that situation has improved.”
