Curfew further relaxed in Jamshedpur as situation improves
JAMSHEDPUR: Curfew was today relaxed for varying time periods today as no untoward incident was reported in the city which witnessed clashes between two communities on Monday.

Public Relation Officer of East Singhbhum district Avinash said.

The curfew was relaxed in rest of the city from 10 AM to 6 PM, he said.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Amitabh Kushal and Senior Superintendent of Police Anoop T Mathew visited the four affected police station areas to take stock of the situation.

The situation was improving, he said, adding that no decision about reopening of schools tomorrow has been taken yet.

Earlier, the district administration had imposed prohibitory order under section 144 CRPC followed by curfew after violent clashes broke out between members of two communities over an alleged incident of harassment of a girl on Monday.

Addressing a joint press conference here last night, Kaushal and Mathew said no complaint about the alleged harassment was reported.

"We'll conduct a fair and impartial investigation into the clashes and find out the reason for it," Mathew said and added that there was a possibility that the cause might be something else than the alleged harassment.

Earlier, Jharkhand government has ordered a probe into the clashes by a two-member committee comprising Kolhan Division Commissioner Arun and DIG R K Dhan.
