In the five states that are going to polls, serving chief ministers, except in Manipur, have a net worth of at least Rs 1 crore. Many of their colleagues in the assembly are also part of the crorepati club.

In Punjab, 67% of MLAs have a networth of Rs 1 cr or above. Representation of women in state assemblies continues to be poor, with an average of just 4.2% of legislators from the fairer sex.

Manipur doesn’t have a single woman MLA in the 60-member legislature and Goa, with 40 seats in the assembly, has one woman MLA.
