The India and England cricket teams observed a minute's silence before the start of the opening test Thursday to pay homage to the victims of Mumbai's terror attacks that killed at least 171 people last month.

CHENNAI: The India and England cricket teams observed a minute's silence before the start of the opening test Thursday to pay homage to the victims of Mumbai's terror attacks that killed at least 171 people last month.

Both teams and match officials lined up just inside the boundary as they marked their respect.

The English team canceled the last two limited-overs internationals of the seven-match series and flew home in the wake of the terror attacks.

England's team returned to play the two test matches after the Indian cricket board revised the itinerary to change both test venues offered reassurances of increased security.
