KOLKATA: The CPM on Thursday said it will oppose BJP president Amit Shah's Ratha Yatra in Bengal.

“It is learnt that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah is planning to organise a Ratha Yatra in Bengal. We are certain that this attempt is being made to bring communal polarisation in our state and we will oppose this move at any cost," the CPM has said in a statement after its state committee meeting held at the party headquarters on Alimuddin Street.

The party has said in its statement that the BJP was trying to bring communal politics in Bengal and the Left parties were aware about the move by the saffron brigade.

"All the Left parties will take up protest movements on December 6, the day of Babri Masjid demolition, to condemn Narendra Modi government's move to encourage communal politics," the CPM has said in its statement.

The party has decided to appeal all secular political forces to join them in opposing BJP's plan to entertain communal vandalism.
